About Me
I'm Paul, and I wear many hats both professionally and personally.
I have many years in AI, ML, and Data Science, spanning practical RAG Chatbot development, MCP tools, jupyter model training, end-to-end ML development, and MLOps infrastructure.
I've also worked on the product development side, leading a 5-person Math team at the open research frontier of the industry simultaneously as I was the architect of the first MVP and subsequent operations.
Beyond technical scope and architecture, I've done independent research on industry and market landscape - where the incumbents and frontiers are, and how my own work fits and stands out among them.
I'm a first-principles and systems thinker, a specialist-generalist with tailored problem-first approach that goes deep wherever the competitive differentiator requires. This manifests both technically as IC, managerially as mentor and developer of engineers, and strategically as Technical Lead who's opinionated about product differentiator.
While I wear many hats and have worked many titles, the title that best describes me is probably one I haven't been bestowed yet - a Forward Deployed Engineer that is both Architect-, Tech Lead-, and Consult-adjacent role is where I aspire to be as a role that fully utilises my strategic and technical vantage.
Beyond work, I'm a former backpacker, having wandered alone along my own tailored personal itinerary designed around cultural, historical, and culinary journeys.
While my curiosity and yearnings to see the world remains, nowadays I spend my time domestically tending to my pet ducks, broadening my work portfolio, and advising my former mentees and juniors at work. Occasionally I reminisce of my past travels by ordering specific cultural cuisines, which, from Bangkok, is "passable" for reliving my memories of routes long treaded.
